Eclipse Process Framework (EPF) -
An open source initiative to standardize on modern processes

The Eclipse Process Framework project is an open source initiative with the goal of providing the software development community with an extensible process framework and tools for software process engineering, as well as extensible process content based on modern development practices, such as iterative, agile, and incremental development. 2-Pro Mentor follows this development initiative with great interest.

IBM® Rational® has donated a portion of their commercial process product; The Rational Unified Process (RUP®) and their tooling for process authoring and configuration, The Rational Method Composer, to the open source project in an attempt to reach agreement on one or more standard process descriptions for modern software development.

A range of industry experts have contributed to the development of a lean software development method - OpenUP - as well as tooling for method authoring - EPF Composer. Read about the project at Eclipse Process Framework's Homepage.
