Summary

Sigurd is an experienced consultant, with more than 14 years in the software development industry. He graduated from University of Glasgow, Scotland in 1991 and started his software engineer career in a small Norwegian consulting company developing software systems for clients in public and private sector. His most prominent area of expertise is around the IBM® Rational® Unified Process (RUP). He has participated in many different RUP driven projects, both in managerial and technical roles, as well as mentoring companies in the adoption and implementation of the RUP. From 2000 - 2004, Sigurd worked within Rational Software's development organization, leading the RUP content development team.

Project Experience

Sigurd has participated in a range of software projects, large and small, and in different domains, such as banking, government, travel industry and IT, developing commercial software and in-house business systems. Over the years, Sigurd has performed many roles in software projects, such as Project Manager, Process Engineer, Architect, Analyst (business and system), Designer and Implementer. In the last few years, the focus has been on mentoring the management teams in RUP adoption / implementation efforts.

Training Experience

During the employment in Numerica Taskon and Mogul, Sigurd established and managed a profitable training department offering quality courses in all phases of the software development lifecycle. He has also authored commercial training materials, such as the RUP Plug-in Workshop for Rational Software. Sigurd is a certified IBM Instructor, with significant experience in delivering out-of-the-box and tailored versions of the following IBM Rational instructor-led training courses:

Tools and Methodologies

Systems development according to object oriented principles has been the backbone of Sigurd's software engineering experience. At the beginning of his career, he worked mainly in the development disciplines of a software project, such as architecture, design and implementation of object oriented systems. Later, the focus shifted to the managerial disciplines, such as process engineering, project management and requirements analysis and business modeling.
